Overview
Farm Equipment Operator’s Job Purpose: Do you like working outdoors? This position will train you to be responsible for operating state of the art farming/application equipment.
Farm Equipment Operator’s Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate farm machinery for tillage, planting, application and harvest operations.
Understand acceptable agronomic/field conditions for field operations
Understand in cab GPS technology, documentation and complete accurately.
Scout fields during field operations and report pertinent information related to field condition to Farm manager.
Understand and perform field maintenance, including mowing, tree trimming, tile repair, driveway repair, etc.
Equipment Repair & Maintenance
Perform routine maintenance on all equipment and vehicles, including: oil changes, cleaning both inside and out, fluid checks, etc.
Inspect equipment and vehicles in order to diagnose defects.
Repair and test as required to keep in good operating condition.
Farm Equipment Operator’s Other Duties
Collect soil samples.
Complete paperwork in a timely, accurate and legible fashion.
Represent Deerfield Farms in a professional manner.
Attend various training seminars to remain current on new products, technologies, and concepts.
Experience and Skills:
The following qualifications and requirements reflect the ideal candidate.
Natural mechanical ability
Mathematical capability, including measurements and volume/metric conversions
Ability to read and understand maps, directions, and product guides
Basic computer skills
Written and Verbal communication skills
Understanding of motor vehicle operation and DOT regulations
Knowledge of equipment and tools
Adaptable and flexible, patient; safety conscious CDL Class A License preferred
Custom Applicator License (Training offered to achieve certification)
Farm Equipment Operator’s Hours:
Day shift, some evenings, occasional Saturdays and Sundays during peak season.
