Job Description: Assembly Technician
The basic function of the assembly production technician in the assembly organization is to perform the necessary tasks involved in the process of assembling components required to manufacture packaging machinery
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies.
· Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
· Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
· Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
· Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
· Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
· Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
· Must have two years work experience, preferably in an industrial environment and/or training in machining, welding, or mechanical assembly
Required Abilities / Skills / Essential Functions:
· Must be able to work standing up for long periods of time.
· Must be able to work under a piece of machinery on a mechanic’s creeper or similar device to wire a machine
· Must have the ability to lift 30lbs
· Ability to go up and down stairs
· Must be able to read, write, and comprehend written plans in English
· Must be able to read a mechanical blueprint to complete layout of metal parts
· Must be able to read a tape measure and understand fine measurement ie. 32nds and 64ths of an inch.
· Must have knowledge of sheet metal tools and equipment
· Must possess precision tools for working with electrical controls, such as wire cutters, screwdrivers, etc.
· Must be present on-site to complete job
